Michigan State will play Michigan on Jan. 5 and Feb. 8 in Big Ten basketball play, the league announced Friday.

  That’s when Michigan State and Michigan will meet in Big Ten basketball play for the 2019-20 season.

  MSU will open the second season of 20-game Big Ten play Dec. 8 at home against Rutgers, then travels to Northwestern on Dec. 18 for the other early conference game.

  The Spartans defeated U-M three times last season for the first time in the history of the rivalry, including the Big Ten tournament championship game in Chicago.
